Craft
A brand book that reads its own tokens
Most brand books go stale the day they ship. The colours are screenshots, the type is a flattened image, and six months later the product looks nothing like the PDF.
We wanted ours to be impossible to falsify. So the brand book at thepace.io/brand isn't a document about the system — it's built from it.
Built from the tokens, not about them
Every colour and font on the page resolves from the same design tokens the rest of the site uses. The colour section reads the running theme on load and prints the real resolved value next to each token name. Switch between light and dark and the numbers update themselves — there's no typed-in hex to go out of date.
Honest by construction
It's also where we wrote down how we sound:
- Plain over clever — clarity is the highest craft.
- Honest over impressive — name the tradeoffs, and under-claim.
- Precise over vague — "WCAG 2.2 AA," not "accessible-ish."
Why it matters
A brand that reads its own tokens can't quietly drift. That's the same idea behind everything we build: design and code working from one source of truth, verified rather than remembered.
